The Goodwill Campaign, whose Higher Committee is chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Talal and which is implemented by the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD), provided humanitarian assistance today, Wednesday, to targeted groups in Zarqa.
In the presence of Zarqa Governor Dr Firas Abu Qaoud and a number of members of the Campaign’s Higher Committee, Her Royal Highness handed over, at the headquarters of the Thabit Bin Qais Charity and Zakat Committee in New Zarqa and at Beit Al-Khair Association for Orphan Care, food parcels to 200 female-headed households, as well as assistance to a number of university students studying specialisations aligned with labour market needs.
Her Royal Highness also handed over support provided by the Campaign to women to help them develop their income-generating projects, in a way that strengthens their ability to sustain these projects and ensure their success. Her Royal Highness also took part in distributing gifts and winter clothing to a number of orphaned children.
Her Royal Highness also met a number of girls working in a sewing workshop at Beit Al-Khair Association and handed over the support provided by the Campaign to supply sewing materials for the workshop, which also includes holding advanced courses and training sessions for the girls working there.
Her Royal Highness was also briefed on the medical clinics at the association and listened to an explanation from the Head of the Medical Team in The Goodwill Campaign, Dr Nayef Al-Abdalat, on the Campaign’s plans, in cooperation with its volunteers and partners from the private medical sector, to activate the clinics in a way that ensures the provision of free health services to families in need and orphans in the area.
Her Royal Highness affirmed The Goodwill Campaign’s commitment, stemming from its charitable and humanitarian objectives and with the support of its partners, to contributing to national efforts to assist families in need and create suitable employment opportunities, particularly for women and girls through productive and home-based projects.
Her Royal Highness said that the Campaign gives special importance to women’s economic empowerment, referring in this context to JOHUD’s programmes and initiatives implemented through its development centres across the Kingdom’s governorates and districts, which aim to equip women with the skills and expertise needed to engage in work and marketing.
