Project: Creativity for empowerment
Project title:              Using creativity for empowerment for people at risk 
Project partners:       Beit al Bawadi, UNWRA, Relief International and others
Project funders:        Noel Foundation  

Project purpose

To establish a network of development professionals and volunteers with appropriate knowledge and skills in the field of creativity and arts therapy  to support displaced Iraqis and vulnerable Jordanians 

Main components
Awareness raising for the use of arts therapy for helping vulnerable groups
Training professional staff (teachers, counsellors, psychologists, artists, social workers, youth workers etc) in the use of arts therapy with vulnerable groups
Mentoring and support to community based arts therapy programmes
Life skills training for vulnerable groups (personal development, problem solving, rights and responsibilities, communication and negotiation skills, inter-generational dialogue, conflict prevention ad resolution) - with a focus on the use of creative tools used in arts therapy.
Skills development – creativity / enterprise / crafts and opportunity for internship
Economic empowerment ; money management, income generation
Creating expertise to deal effectively with ‘girls at risk’  - through a holistic approach that recognises their needs to develop to their full potential and to be empowered psychologically, socially and economically.
Main achievements
Created a cadre of 28 development professionals who use arts therapy in their work with vulnerable people
JOHUD staff use arts therpay techniques with around 100 clients on 4 different projects and incorporate into on-going work
More than 750 clients benefit from the arts therapy sessions delivered by workshop trainees
Creativity and recycling project pilot tested and ready for roll out
