JOHUD celebrated the Holy Month of Ramadan by focusing even more effort to bring support to people who are poor, hungry or isolated. The Goodwill Campaign went out in the community - raising funds, giving help to those in need.
On September 28th, HRH Princess Basma rounded off the successful Goodwill Campaign for the month of Ramadan with a visit to Zarqa. Meeting with scholchildren, parents and educationalists, Princess Basma
reiterated the importance of supporting students and providing them with the
means to acquire an education that enables them to shoulder future
responsibilities.
During a visit to several areas in
Zarqa Governorate, Princess Basma, president of the National Goodwill
Campaign Higher Committee, presented several scholarships and assistance to
underprivileged students and local residents.
Yesterday's visit coincided with the
last days of the holy month prior to Eid Al Fitr to provide assistance to
underprivileged families.
In the Dogra District, Princess
Basma presented scholarships to 19 students and funds for 25 income- generating
projects.
The Princess, along with members of
the higher committee, distributed schoolbags donated by Orange
and other gifts to 150 young students at the Dogra Secondary
Comprehensive School
for Boys.
"Doing good deeds requires
cooperation and a real partnership among all people to secure a better life for
the needy," Princess Basma said at the school, reiterating the importance of
social solidarity.
She also distributed schoolbags to
55 other children at the kindergarten of the Bani Hashem village's charity
society.
In addition, Princess Basma visited
the Awareness and Family Guidance Centre where she met with some Jordanian and
Iraqi orphans and checked on their condition.
Nadia Bushnaq, the centre president,
briefed Princess Basma on programmes and future projects designed to strengthen
family ties.
Distributing schoolbags to another
100 students in Bani Hashem, the Princess also presented academic assistance to
12 students and funds for 13 income- generating projects.
The Princess also met with six
disabled children to get a closer idea about their actual needs.
She presented the families of these
children, who are mentally and physically challenged, with funds to launch
income-generating projects, in addition to presenting wheelchairs to the
children.
Working with the construction industry to support those in need
On Sunday August 31, HRH Princess Basma,
president of the National Goodwill Campaign’s higher committee, commended
Jordanian contractors for their support of the campaign.
During a ceremony on Sunday attended
by Minister of Public Works and Housing Sahl Majali and other members of the
campaign’s higher committee, Princess Basma commended the contractors’
financial support for charitable activities.
“We are aware of the difficulties
and challenges that the region is going through in general, not only in Jordan,” the
Princess said, voicing confidence that the Kingdom will overcome economic
hardships through unity and solidarity.
In his address, Majali thanked
Jordanian institutions for their social responsibility, solidarity and support
for development initiatives. The minister commended the efforts of the Jordan
Contractors Association calling the organisation a “pioneer in charity work”.

Association Dirar Sarayreh praised Princess Basma’s efforts and highlighted the
role of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD), which leads
the campaign’s charitable services.
Meeting people in Shobak
This year's National Goodwill Campaign was launched
on Tuesday September 2, in Shobak, where the campaign's higher committee presented
financial assistance, scholarships and income-generating projects to
underprivileged citizens.
During a visit to the Shobak area, HRH Princess Basma, the
committee's president, launched a local community development unit at
Shobak College, under a memorandum of understanding between the college
and the Jordanian Hashemite Fund of Human Development.
Addressing the gathering at the launch ceremony, Princess Basma said
the unit represents an important step for the district's development,
underlining the importance of achieving real and tangible results.
Highlighting the importance of support from the philanthropic and
private sectors, she reiterated that the campaign will continue to
pursue its mission to provide assistance to needy families across the
Kingdom.
During the visit, the Princess presented JD34,000 in financial
assistance for 12 charitable societies and for Basta Basic School for
Girls. She also distributed 23 scholarships and 37 income-generating
projects to local residents.
Meanwhile, President of Balqa Applied University Omar Rimawi
announced that the university will award 15 scholarships to Shobak
College students. Also, President of Al Hussein Ben Talal University
Ali Hrout said the university will raise the number of scholarships
allocated to the campaign from five to 20.
Princess Basma met with young people and women representatives from
Shobak who briefed her on their development initiatives and the needs
and the challenges facing residents.
Representatives of several banks, businessmen and industrials
accompanied the campaign's committee members during the visit to the
southern district.
Visit to Al Hussein refugee camp
On Wednesday September 3, HRH Princess Basma visited Al Hussein
refugee camp and Jabal Nuzha and distributed aid to local residents.
The Princess met with residents of Al Hussein refugee camp and
distributed financial assistance to 14 students, schoolbags to some 130
orphans and presented 11 income-generating projects to local
underprivileged families.
Princess Basma announced that the campaign will donate JD10,000 to
the camp's orphans committee, stressing the importance of providing
support to needy families during Ramadan.
Representatives from Al Hussein refugee camp and Jabal Nuzha
commended the campaign for enhancing local residents' living conditions
and providing job opportunities.
During the visit to Jabal Nuzha, the Princess met with orphans from
a children's protection society and visited a rehabilitation centre for
disabled women.
The centre chairman briefed her on the centre's activities and
goals, which include providing training to disabled women in embroidery
and crafts.
Amman Governor Saad Wadi Manasir, senior area officials and
representatives from the private sector accompanied the Princess on the
campaign visit.
Princess Basma visits
patients under the National Goodwill Campaign
HRH Princess Basma visited patients who are currently recovering after undergoing
surgeries funded by the campaign. Princess Basma checked on the conditions of
13 patients, 10 of whom are recovering at Ibn Al Haitham Hospital. The Princess
expressed her appreciation to the hospitals for contributing to the campaign,
highlighting that their participation represents humanitarian and social
partnership. During the visit, the campaign signed a partnership agreement with
the Arab International Company for Education and Investment, the owner of Ibn
Al Haitham Hospital and the Jordan University of Applied Science. Under the
agreement, the company will fund the campaign with JD30,000, donate kidney
dialysis equipment and treat and operate on six patients monthly.
