The Turath - Heritage range of ceramics
Beit al Bawadi is known for its 'signature' range of ceramics - aptly
named ‘Turath' or ‘Heritage'. Instantly recognisable for its traditional designs
- the Turath range features intricate arabesque patterns, spiritual messages
conveyed through exquisite calligraphy and rich coloured glazes.
Each item is individually hand crafted from start to finish.
The Bawadi team of artists have developed a unique technique of ‘dotting' that
allows them to create complex ornamentation, weaving patterns of many
different colours.
Drawing inspiration from the culture of the region
Bawadi draws its inspiration from ‘natural symmetry' -
whether flowers and leaves or geometric shapes of Islamic architecture - to
create infinite repeated designs characteristic of the arabesque style. On
selected items, skilled artists embellish the design with liquid gold glaze, to
add final touch to an item that is to be treasured and admired for its beauty.
The display of Turath ceramic art celebrates and reinforces
the history and culture of the region. Signature items such as magnificent
large vases and striking murals, featuring Islamic spiritual messages are
on display in embassies, diplomatic residences, palaces, five star hotels, and
reception rooms throughout the region. The Turath range of bowls, vases, side
lamps and plates find a natural setting in the home or office. Each item is a
classic in its own right - crafted by artists and admired by all. The
Turath range brings a unique sense of history into even the most modern
settings.
The Turath range is available many
colours: intense turquoise that evokes the waters of the Red Sea, deep cerulean
blue from the clear summer skies, rich red and ochre from the desert sands of
Wadi Rum, the honey and gold of sun-bleached dunes of Wadi Araba, shades of
green from the spring leaves in the mountains of the north, to the deep forests
of Ajloun, and the pale tones of the olive trees in Tafileh.
Every season, Beit
al Bawadi launches new designs and new colour combinations, drawing inspiration
from the seasons, the landscape and the heritage of the region.
